Angels of Death

Game

Released Oct. 2018

This is a psycho horror adventure game first published by NicoNico Game Magazine (currently Game Magazine) in August of 2015. It was released as a four-part series starting at Episode.1 with subsequent parts releasing about every two months. Circumstances surrounding its publication are described in the fan book and second art gallery collection mentioned below.

The game garnered great acclaim, eventually releasing on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation®, and was translated into five different languages (English, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Russian). It was promoted with a wide media mix including a monthly comic zine (KADOKAWA) adaptation that reached 2.5 million units and an anime adaptation by AT-X and Tokyo MX in 2018.

Angels of Death Episode.Eddie

Released Oct. 2018

Eddie is the third son born to a family of gravediggers. Although unable to take over the family business, his love for digging graves day in and day out is stronger than anyone else.

However, Eddie has a secret: his oldest brother abuses him. Unknown to the rest of his family, this abuse grows worse every day.

Then one day, he meets a mysterious girl in the graveyard.

He is beguiled by this cute girl with mysterious eyes and goes to meet her each night. However, as his life turns more and more hellish each day, he begins to notice…

…that she, too, is covered in wounds that continue to grow in number.

Eddie was first introduced as the master of floor B4 in the anime version of Angels of Death, released on Blu-ray/DVD in October, 2018. This game, announced two and a half years following publication of the manga and novels, delves deeper into details from their scenarios to illustrate his past.

Books

This game saw both manga and novel releases, as well as the publication of a fan book and two art books containing a wide mix of illustrations. Within these books, the creator himself delves further into stories of the characters’ pasts, left incomplete in the original work. Even now, a prequel about the building’s past, Angels of Death Episode.0, is currently being published monthly on Gene Pixiv.

Media Mix

Soon after the game finished releasing in February of 2016, various products such as LINE stickers and button pins began to be sold, pushing the series’ media presence well beyond the scope of the printed page. Promotions such as a huge haunted house based on one of the building’s floors and another recreation of a floor at NicoNico’s Choukaigi event successfully drew even more attention.
